“Since you excel in so many ways--you have so much faith, such gifted speakers, such knowledge, such enthusiasm, and such love for us--now I want you to excel also in this gracious ministry of giving.”
(2 Corinthians 8:7 NLT)

We believe that giving is vitally important to the spiritual growth of believers. At Newport Mesa, we are committed to helping you grow in your faith in a variety of ways and giving is an important step in that process. We have established additional avenues for our contributors to give their tithes and offerings via Newport Mesa’s website in order to help them excel in the “gracious ministry of giving.”

What are the benefits of online giving?
This system is designed to stimulate consistency and regularity in giving at our church.
Additionally, it will help congregants:

•  prioritize giving in their personal budgets

•  increase their faithfulness

•  help the church maintain a solid financial support base

•  easily register for events and activities

How does it work?
For tithes and offerings, funds are transferred from your checking or savings account and deposited into the church account you designate via Electronic Fund Transfers (EFT's). Typically, the tithes and offerings page contains designations that are tax deductible.

The resources and fees page directs you to a variety of events or activities where registration fees are incurred, including retreats, camps, sports ministry fees, MOPS, GIFT series classes and other seasonal events. Ultimately, you will be able to purchase DVD's, tapes or CD's of sermons presented here at Newport Mesa, as well as purchase other resources used for small groups, Adult Christian Education classes, etc. This page allows for credit card usage in addition to EFT's. Items in this category are typically not tax deductible.

Can I use my credit card to give a contribution?
We are not recommending the use of credit cards as a method of donating tithes and offerings to the church, as we incur a higher fee to do so (2.35% of the transaction), and will thereby receive less than the contributor intended to donate. We will, however, maintain the availability of credit card transactions for any events listed on the resources and fees page.

Are there other options available?
Yes! We will continue to allow for contributors to bring their offerings to our worship services on Sundays. We also have donation boxes located in the back of the Worship Center. Additionally, we encourage donors to utilize the capabilities of their own banking institutions as a method of making donations. Most banks and credit unions offer free "online bill payment" features, to which the church can be designated as a payee.

How do I get started?
Our Online Giving form for tithes and offerings will guide you through a simple process to help get you started. Here's what you can expect:

Step 1:
Your Personal Information
In order to establish your online giving plan, we need to gather some basic information about you. All of this information will be secured. You may want to take a moment to review information concerning
site security.

Step 2: Your Gift
You will determine the frequency and amount of your tithes and offerings to the ministry of Newport Mesa. The amount can be changed or adjusted at any time. You will be asked to specify whether your gift is intended as regular Tithes and Offerings, General Missions, Benevolence or Building Fund. Gifts can be one time or recurring monthly, quarterly or annually. Twice monthly recurrences can also be set up by creating two profiles in the Personal Information section using identical information with different donation dates inserted.

Step 3:
Your Account Information
You will be asked to enter your checking or savings account information. You will continue to receive your quarterly contribution statements in the mail as you have in the past. Your online contributions will appear on these statements. (Tithes and Offerings Form)

Our Online Giving form for registration fees and resources will include the steps mentioned above, and will also include the additional option for credit card information. (Resources and Fees Form)

Once your donation or fee has been processed, you will receive an email notification confirming
the transaction.

Step 4: Confirmation
You will be asked to submit your request. Before doing this, make sure all of the preceding information is correct. A Confirmation Page will then be displayed. Once again, you will be asked to review the information for accuracy. YOU MUST AGREE TO ACCEPT THE AUTHORIZATION TERMS AND CLICK ON THE “CONFIRM” BUTTON. This completes your transaction.

What Biblical principles teach us about the ministry of giving?

•  God owns everything! We are simply managers or stewards of what He has entrusted us with.
“The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”
(Psalm 24:1)

•  My heart always goes where I put God’s money.
“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
(Matthew 6:21)

•  Heaven, not earth, is my home.
“But our citizenship is in heaven.”
(Colossians 3:20)

•  Give with an eternal perspective in mind, not just an earthly one.
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.”
(Matthew 6:19-20)

•  Giving is the only antidote to materialism.
“If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have
treasure in heaven.”
(Matthew 19:21)

•  God prospers me not to raise my standard of living, but to raise my standard of giving.
“Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion.”
(2 Corinthians 9:10-11)
