SERVICE TIMES AT 9 AM 11 AM
LOOK
We enjoy creating an atmosphere of worship that focuses our hearts and minds on what God is doing at our church. You'll notice a special ambience is created by dedicated volunteers who plan a "look" that ties into our current sermon series or simply represents the current season of the Four Seasons. The colors, images, shapes, textures, and smells are carefully chosen to communicate God's message of hope each Sunday. We hope the environment draws you in, connects you to God, and challenges you toward a deeper walk with Christ.
MUSIC
Music is an important part of the Celebration services at Newport Mesa; it helps us to celebrate who God is and what He has done in our lives. A worship team leads us in singing and prayer each week in a vibrant, upbeat style. If you've ever been bored with "church music," we don't think you'll run into that here! We are excited about worshipping God through powerful lyrics and a style that you're probably already accustomed to.

MESSAGE
Each Sunday, a practical, real-life message of faith is presented - oftentimes in a humorous way. Messages at Newport Mesa are grounded in the message of the Bible, God's Word to us. As we seek to share God's Word in a language and format that is easy to understand for those who are just starting out on their spiritual journey, we also seek to help those who are already following Christ to deepen their walk of faith in a significant way.
The message is regularly surrounded by special music, dance, drama, and creative video capturing our attention and communicating the same concepts in a new format. Each element is carefully chosen to move our hearts, challenge our thinking, and inspire us toward action.
The weekly message can be watched and listened to online by clicking on the graphic from the front page . Message tapes can also be purchased at The Well after the Sunday services.
COMMUNION
Communion is a remembrance of the death and resurrection of Jesus in the form of bread - representing His body - and juice - representing His blood.
We read in Luke 22 as Jesus shares a final meal with his disciples, "Jesus broke bread with His disciples and told them to eat, saying, "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me." He then took a cup of wine and said, "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins."
On the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate Communion at Newport Mesa. This regular element of our Celebration services helps us focus our minds and hearts on the core of the Christian faith - the death and resurrection of Christ.
GIVING
2 Corinthians 9:7 says, "Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
Each Sunday, we take time to give back a portion of our financial resources to God as a way to worship Him. It is our understanding that God has blessed us with an amazing gift by providing for our needs. It is a priviledge to invest our money into the ministries at Newport Mesa where God is impacting numerous lives. A great time to give is during the offering time or in the offering box in the foyer as you leave the worship center.
PRAYER
Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." [Matthew 21:21-22]
Prayer is a key component of each Celebration service at Newport Mesa. Either in the middle or at the end of each service, our prayer team is on both sides of the stage ready to pray for any need.
No matter what is going on in your life - relationship difficulties, health issues, employment loss, or general sadness - they are ready and willing to listen, love, and pray.
You can also submit a prayer request to our staff and prayer team by writing it on the back of a connection card in the back of the seat in the worship center. Drop the card in the offering or in the offering box in the foyer. Your request will then be added to our weekly prayer list.
BAPTISM
"When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off--for all whom the Lord our God will call." [Acts 2:37-39]
Baptism is an outward sign of an inward decision to follow Jesus as the Forgiver and Leader of your life. Although many people feel like they need to have a near-perfect relationship with God or have a "cleaned up" life before getting baptized, this is simply not true.
At Newport Mesa, we baptize followers of Jesus on a regular basis. We offer a baptism class periodically to prepare individuals with an understanding of this important step. If you are interested in being baptized or have questions about it, contact the church office at 714.966.0454.
